hi all,

up until now, i've been using xbmp (and now xbmc) solely for listening to my mp3's, viewing pictures, and using shoutcast.

now i want to start using it to stream movies from my computer. i'm curious as to what software people use to convert dvd's into whatever format it is on the hard drive that xbmc will read while at the same time keeping the quality and minimizing file size. any suggestions on achieving this is appreciated.

thanks in advance.

as a n00b you might want to try autogk, dr. divx or other one-click transcoder, but if you want highest quality you need to learn to do it 'manualy', doom9.net and divx digest is probebly the best transcoding resource sites to start learning from
