i have searched these forums high and low and i cant seem to lick the issue of launcing a game in xlink, and actually have it launch the game. i always get xbox media center unable to locate game automatically. i have 2 partitions for files, f: and g:. in kai section of xbmc i have f:\games;g:\games. i am using xbmc.cvs.04.11.05 build. my games are listed, and games launch fine from xbmc. i have deleted xbmc "game save" from ms dash. i have deleted kai vectors file. i have gone through and played each game enough to save, then upgraded xbmc, then deleted xbmc game save, kai vectors.....etc.

i have searched these forums for over a week, every night trying to get this right. i have grabbed friends' entire xbmc dir and still same thing. i have tried both slashes, caps, hddloader in path...etc. if i press "a" button when this error pops up i can launch game and play online w/o a hitch 99% of the time. after a full night of festivities, i sometimes forget what game i just joined, and then dont know what game to launch. i know this is more of a short term memory issue i have to rectify internally, but this error with xbmc and kai is causing me to obsess over the resolution, in any mental condition i happen to be in.

the kai vectors file lists the games and their corresponding game saves correctly. is there any way i can scrap any kind of autoscanning and input the paths to the games directly? i would much rather manually add a game to the list and its path, than mess with trying to get this to work. any help is greatly appreciated, just please note that i have already changed case of games path, added hddloader to path (even though i dont use it), deleted kai vectors, deleted the 0facfac0 folders in u and t data folders.

please help! i just want to launch games from the xlink arena screen, even if i have to input the full xbe path to each and every one.

tia

so if you only delete kaivectors.xml, reboot, what happens? this has been happening to a buddy of mine, have him always delete the kaivectors.xml and it fixes it for him.

thanks for the reply. i have read about deleting kai vectors xml fixing issues where a game isnt detected, but i dunno if it fixes a game on the list not being found by xbmc/kai. to answer your question though, yeah i have deleted that file countless times, reboot and then let it regenerate. it regenerates the same everytime, and it wont launch games when trying to play from the arena. it will also sometimes list games twice, republic commando, for example, always shows up twice on the games list. i gave gone so far as deleting all my game saves <sniff, sniff>, deleting kai vectors, deleting xbmc u and t data folders, rebooting, firring up the game and saving, then going to kai. same thing everytime, xbmc unable to locate games automatically. xbmc seems so friggin incredible, i dunno why something as simple as a game path is so hard for me to fix. Sad

solved!
i am using softmod with evox dash. i had not realized evox booted from c and used e:\evoxdash.xbe as default dashboard when tray is in. this whole time i had been updating the xbmc default dash in the xbmc folder. you have to take xbmc dash and rename evoxdash.xbe and place on root of e:\, replacing the one thats already there. now xbmc works awesome, and kai game launch issue is resolved. now the countless updates that didnt seem to change anything makes sense! this resolved countless skin issues, i now have sounds i didnt know i had, visualizations work consistently, screensavers work. so....if you are updating xbmc and nothing seems to fix your situation, youre not updating the xbmc xbe in the correct location!
