xbmc Android with asus tf700 tegra3 1080p x264 - Meram - 2012-11-13

hi,

I installed the latest xbmc for android. I caná·°t play the 1080p x264 files on my tegra 3 asus transformer tf700. With BS player it works perfect. How do i get running this format without using a external player? Is there already hardware support available? Or when is it available.

Does anyone running this format fine on a asus with tegra3 processor? If yes how dit you get it working?

There's only software decoding for tegra3 (and most SoCs outside of AMLogic) right now. That's most likely the issue.

I get decent performance on my TF700 with SD and some HD video. It's very "stuttery" on my Galaxy Nexus.

BTW, I am running CM10 on both.

Any news on when this issue will be resolved? XBMC beta 2 dont work either with TF700T pad. Non of my 1080 and 720 mkv files plays smoothly, but when I use BsPlayer its smooth like butter =)

No ETA. It takes time, and there's a lot of issues that have to be dealt with on most chipsets.

The new RC1 seems to play well. Streaming HD video from Navi-X not sure if it is 1080p.

NO HW acceleration yet - also not in RC1 and won't be there in Frodo. So unless your CPU isn't good enough 1080p is way out of range. We have a dev working on HW acceleration and there are some first promising tests, but it's still in early stages and takes more time.

A tegra 3 should be fast enough.

Why cant the devs just enable external player support in the OFFICIAL builds - Instead they purposefully leave that part of the code broken in Android!
Why do I have to go to some Russian website to get xbmc to work with external players?

Clearly external player support (which allows for hardware acceleration) is something that Android users are crying out for.

Why can't others submit pull requests on fixed code so we XBMC devs can include the fixes into mainline. Seriously, all these sites that work out some issues really need to get with the program and start pushing their fixes back upstream to us.
