What kind of server and what is the speed of the internet connection it is on?

I have a home server with all my movies and series (windows server).
I can access it using something like "EMIT" on my android and Ipad tablets with no problems.
The idea was to have same access but instead of acceising the movie and series files access to all the information using XBMC., the same as I do at my network.

You'll most likely need something like EMIT in order to transcode the format to something that is a smaller file size, so it doesn't buffer like mad when being shared on a typical home broadband connection.
However, EMIT's web page says that it supports HTTP live streaming, so it might be possible to use EMITas a source in XBMC. I don't really know much about it, though.
