Layout is pretty much same as xbox 360. Thumbstick presses behave like xbox 360 start and back buttons.
The FullscreenGame section is mapped for SNES roms. I have tested this on windows 8 and ubuntu 12.04.

if you just drop this in the keymaps folder does it work correctly?

yep, put it in keymap folder then restart xbmc.
