please help me, i'm in an absolute panic!!

i changed the video resolution a few times in the xbmc settings section, just to see how many options were available.  i accidentally hit the set button.  i rebooted a few times and had problems with xbmc displaying strangely, so then i shutdown and restarted.  when i did, the xbox started correctly (audial clues), but i have no video at all!!

any ideas, i am at a total loss.

yet another victem fallen into the xbmp/c trap :d

read every post on this thread now:

fyi it took me a good 20 hours to figure out how to fix the problem myself.

it's even more difficult if you are running soft-mods like i am.

some hints:
your goal is to get the video switcher app to run.
it's possible that your eeprom is corrupted (like mine was). if so, x2 4977 bios will not work. i found the evox d6 bios was the only one that worked in my case to get my dashboard up and running. if you can ftp into your xbox (with evox up and running), you can execute the app remotely, then hit the appropriate button on the xbox controller (most likely you want to hit b for ntsc 4:3). reset and you = wins.

i'm so happy someone knows what i'm going through.

where can i find the video switcher app
and
how do i run a command remotely through ftp?
i did some research on this, and could not find the information again. thanks for your help,

you are a god among men.

and if anyone asks me, i will tell them so.

i can't tell you where to get the file, as it's a homebrew xdk compiled binary.

however, i can *suggest* that you look in the 'usual places.'

http://www.writersgallery.com/mxm/tut/usualplaces.htm

that's about all i can tell you about that one, sorry. Smile

as far as executing an app remotely.
make sure you are using an ftp client like flashfxp that allows you to send raw commands.

upload the video switcher app somewhere, like say e:\apps\video\default.xbe

send the raw command "execute e:\apps\video\default.xbe"

if you are close enough to your xbox when you type this, you should hear the hd doing something. give it a good 10 seconds or so ... hit b on the controller (assuming you want ntsc 4:3), power down, power up, and you should see video.

good luck.

this was very handy information to have. i'm just the kind of guy who would do this misstake.

just a question on the topic. (so that i know for eventual future mistakes Image )

if i have a tv capable of displaying both pal and ntsc would i still have this problem if i did the same change?

depends if your tv support both ntsc-m (usa) and/or ntsc-j (japan), and which one you try to switch to (the one you select must be supported)
