Reinstall mythtv - jwdv22 - 2014-07-30
Hello all,
I was hoping for some guidance. I came home and there was an error about no pvr client installed on my living room PI. I use Mythtv backend and have 2 PIs 1 Raspbmc and 1 openelec
So on the living room raspbmc that mysteriously lost its mythtv pvr client I reboot. Same error on loading xbmc. I got to settings to see if it somehow got disabled. Mythtv isn't listed disabled, nor enabled. I straight can't find it. So I search for it and it finds it but I don't know where from. I click on it and I can see INSTALL or Change Log. Change log just says downloading but nothing comes up and Install does nothing except take me back to the search results screen but nothing happens even after 5 minutes. Multiple reboots and nothing. Ideas?

navigating to the /home/pi/.xbmc/addons/packages there is no pvr.ythtv.cmyth
on Win7 install there is a pvr.mythtv.cmyth folder under addons

So I just did a whole clean install of RaspBMC. Not the answer but after SSH'ing sudo su and cp from different locations etc.... Clean install was the way to go.

I am having the exact same problem, except I haven't been able to fix it yet.
I'm running mythbuntu on a pc with raspbmc on a raspberry pi. I tweaked some settings (can't remember what) a few days ago and on the next boot I got a slew of errors because somehow all of my pvr addons had been enabled, with no backends to connect to. I attempted to disable all except myth, only to find that myth was missing from the list. It wasn't present on either the enabled or disabled lists. I could find it with the search function, but clicking on install had no effect. I tried the "get add-ons" menu, but the PVR repo isn't shown, only the xbmc.org repo. I tried downloading the zip file from github, but xbmc said the file didn't have the correct structure.
I decided to do a fresh install of raspbmc using the recovery menu on my NOOBS sd card. This did not fix the issue. All PVRs were now disabled, but myth was still missing. I tried installing openelec. I tried raspbmc again. I downloaded a raspbmc-only image and flashed it to the card, overwriting the NOOBS image. I formatted the card altogether, and tried the raspbmc image again. None of it worked. Every time I do a fresh install, all the other pvr clients are there but the myth client is absent, and so is the pvr repo on the get add-ons menu. I'm ready to throw my pi through a wall.
I'm sure there is a way for me to fix it from the command line, but I'm a novice and I don't know how to debug the situation. If somebody could point me in the right direction, I'd be grateful.

Got it figured out. There was a new raspbmc update activated a couple days ago that removed the mythtv and iptv add-ons from the list. The problem wasn't on my end. Just need to turn off the auto-update for a while.

Yeah I have donated to Sam in the past and I have always loved RaspBMC. However, in this instance I switched both Pi's to OE because I couldn't wait for the fix. I've used OE previously to RPi's being released but this is my first venture on the Pi.... It's pretty good and a bit more stable it feels like with MythTV v.25
