xbox v1.1 pal
matrix chip with xecuter2 4977
avalaunch 0.48
the latest release of xbmc (10-21) crash at startup.
i've delete the face008 files, nothing change, when i launch
xbmc, it doesn't start, i must turn off the xbox.

please check if your xbox is set to 16:9 in the ms dash. if this is the case set it to 4:3 and try to start xbmp. if it works set your resolution in xbmp (settings screen) to 16:9 restart and finaly set your xbox to 16:9 again.

i'm having the same problem, went through the same process(deleted the u and tdata directories) and i'm in ntsc and with 4:3 enabled(don't have a 16:9 tv though i can do anamorphic).

figured it out, i uploaded the new config file and it worked, so something about my old one was causing a problem.
i'm going to transfer my folder options over to the new file and see how that works out.

no, my tv is in 4:3
and when i install a new version, i always delete all the files
from the previous version, so the config file is always the new
ones, with the specifics adjustements i made for me.
here is my config file, if you can find out what can cause
the problem :

i'm having the exact same problem has jpsdr.
on xbox 1
old version/ (1.0). has old xecutor chip. oldish evox. large f:, where xbmc is. previously using build 1003 successfully. have attempted to go to 1021, deleteing the face008/bin files as directed. we see a blank screen when starting xbmc. this seems the same as what jpsdr describes.
on xbox 2
xbox 1.1, ozzie chip, evox 3752, no f:, previously using 1018. works staight away, no changes required, everything just works.

ok, i've got the first xbox to work by *not* using the original config we were using on 1003. the default config that came with 1021 worked. also, deleteing the 0face008 files didnt seem to have any effect on the upgrade

fixed by adding the following lines to the conf that was working for 1003. (seems pretty obvious now)
