VDR + HDHomeRun ATSC. Help, please - robca - 2016-03-21

I'm a newbie to OpenELEC/Kodi. I successfully installed Tvheadend and can use it with HDHomeRun, but I want to see how VDR works, to decide which one to use. I know that Kodi Live TV and my HDHomeRun setup work (since it all works in TVheadend)

I disabled TVheadend, and tried installing VDR. I have:

OpenELEC 7/Kodi 16, using Mr Chromebox script, newly installed
HDHomeRun script (the driver), correctly recognizing the HDHomeRun tuner on my network
VDR Configuration
VDR backend
VDR VNSI client

The problem seems to be that I have no channels. I tried using the VDR configuration program to scan for channels (after setting ATSC for USA), but nothing happens. In the TV settings, I also tried the Client Specific settings, I can see the VDR OSD screen, I set ATSC scan for USA, but once again it never seems to go past 0% scan...

Is anyone using HDHomeRun (HDHR4-2US in my case) with VDR on OpenELEC/Kodi?

Can anyone help shed some light on what I am missing?

Follow this tutorial to scan via wscan program.

You need to disable the vdr backend first.

Thanks for the reply, but that only applies to the Wetek device, unfortunately (with its integrated ATSC tuner). After posting my question, I learned that there's really no official DVB driver for HDHomeRun, so using VDR with HDHomeRun is a non starter if you want a supported configuration

unofficial driver: https://sourceforge.net/projects/dvbhdhomerun/

So I'm back to (happily) using tvheadend
