Any user with hbbtv working? - myrasp - 2017-01-20 Hi there, Any user from kodi forum use this client with Hbbtv working? Cheers... RE: Any user with hbbtv working? - myrasp - 2017-01-27 68 - Read's and none post nothing ? Ok means don't work... Any user with hbbtv working? - mrwish - 2017-05-10 It'd need a couple of things to work - 1. For the PVR backend (either Enigma2 in this case, or TVHeadend or whatever) to pass through the HBBTV data to the Kodi client. 2. For an HBBTV parser/viewer to be implemented in Kodi. Maybe a plugin? I'm also interested in this as a lot of European channels now carry HBBTV data and more will follow in the next few years! Any user with hbbtv working? - leecooper - 2017-05-13 +1 here for this feature RE: Any user with hbbtv working? - jaeyjaey - 2017-06-12 Tvheadend supports it now: https://tvheadend.org/issues/1711 Any user with hbbtv working? - mrwish - 2017-06-12 Yes it gets passed through with the HTSP stream with TVHeadend now! Ready for any future Kodi development to enable the feature. RE: Any user with hbbtv working? - sarbes - 2017-06-12 Sorry to spoil your party, but porting and maintaining a whole blown HTML5 rendering engine/JS interpreter to 5+ major platforms (plus dozends of subvariants) is a project of its own - I think it is impossible. I really don't get the HbbTV hype anyway. It is just a collection of clunky and unfunctional websites - terrible from a user perspective. Most sources can be accessed via add-ons already. Here in Germany, the content available via HbbTV is dwarfed by the content accessable through add-ons. If something is not available via Kodi, create a request for a new add-on. This has a far higher chance of success. Just to update this, I think while what you've said was pretty true back in 2017, in the meantime HBBTV has carried on improving and establishing itself. It provides a pretty good interface for catch-up TV, especially in countries like Spain and Germany nowadays. A good example of new and useful stuff is a feature on TV3 in Catalonia is being able to restart the currently airing programme by pressing yellow. I get what you mean though about incorporating full HTML5/JS interpretation being a tough ask. RE: Any user with hbbtv working? - sarbes - 2020-08-19 My statement still holds up today. Content available via HbbTV is just a subset of what is available here in Germany. The funny thing is, I had some prototypes back then, which allowed exactly what you described. With some scripts it was possible to watch past and future programs by selecting the EPG entries of them. A far better user experience compared to all the different clunky interfaces out there. I've also written scripts which extended the EPG information (season/episode numbers, thumbnails). In the end, the user response was underwhelming to say the least. If I would have to implement this again, it would have to be supported in the core. I strongly believe that this would be a far superior and easy maintainable solution, making HbbTV defacto unnecessary. I'm still interested in doing something like that, if someone wants to work on it. RE: Any user with hbbtv working? - comanchero - 2021-05-26 Hey, guys! Here one more thread on the topic: https://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=141440 The developers just don't care - they are non-Europeans. Good luck! RE: Any user with hbbtv working? - DarrenHill - 2021-05-26 Actually most of the developers are European. See the post just above yours for why there is little to no interest in this... Unless there is a browser implementation in kodi this would not be possible. Prior to that happening there is nothing much that can be done anyway. Well, I'm not a programmer, but is it so difficult to implement a browser - Chromium, Firefox... whichever? THANKS. Best!
