[OpenXDK] About OpenXDK releases - febs - 2003-11-05

i sometimes "track" the development of openxdk, by looking at the cvs tree, and i feel that it's quite stalled.
does anyone have some new about it?
in my very humble opinion it is the most important xbox tool needed. free binaries, free life!

i heard/read that caustic stopped coding it because he didn't get enough help from other devs, so i don't count on a any progress on that project in the near future. though i believe that 'the only' major thing that was missing was usb driver/interface (only = still a big task).

i stopped by #openxdk, and asked what the deal was.

i ran into ben_3d.

- there is usb support now, ben_3d developed on this since a month ago, he still is.
- work is underway on sound support, ie. sound registers
- update on usb input code (xinput) is something of interest now.
- the big thing needed is gpu (registers,...)
- caustic might be working on bug with video (happens with debug bios), he's supposedly doing memory dumps
- ben is doing some tutorials and mini demos, along the way, one step at a time

so, it's an oppertunity for anyone out there into hacking code, and learning stuff (assembler, organisation, xbe format, helping to create a developr kit, compilers, linkers, ...)

that is the latest release, you have to look in their cvs for newer updates. again, it's along way from being mature enough for xbmc

it's just because i think python is very limited for now on xbox so i wanted to try c++.
and the only possibility is openxdk.
it's not possible to have a new release of openxdk somewhere?
to compile form cvs would be such a pain and idon't think i'm able to do it

you have to ask the openxdk that directly, your better posting in thier own forums (openxdk forum) for that or e-mail
