Kodi 17 pvr.mythtv and hdhomerun HDHR3-US - macbain136 - 2017-02-12
I've updated to the latest firmware, 20161117, for my HDHR3-US and have a reproducible problem.
I can play once but only once, until I restart the HDHR3-US device.
I've tried doing a reset installation but the I get the same behaviour. I reproduced the issue on an Ubuntu based Kodi player and a player running on an Nvidia Shield
1. Reset the hdhome run
2. start mythtvbackend
3. start Kodi and play a channel - This will work
4 select stop
5 Try playing the same channel -- Channel Unavailable.

I would start with trying the same thing with MythTV Frontend. If it doesn't work there this is not a Kodi problem.

I'm thinking it's got something to do with SMB file sharing. Unless I'm mistaken, recordings are attached as a file share and then played, I don't think the PVR plugin does much after handing Kodi a network path to play. I think this is how playback of recordings works, but I could be wrong or things could be different now.

I get the same results when I test my Kodi installation on the same box as my mythtv installation. The problem started just after the latest firmware was installed on my HDHR3 I suspect there has been a change in the behaviour when the disconnect command is issued by the mythtv.pvr client.
When I restart the HDHR3 and mythtv the channel lock is achieved almost immediately. If I stop playing and try to reconnect the same channel it takes 15-20 seconds to channel lock.
Also, if I use the HDHOME run add on the channel locks almost instantaneously.
