Choppy HD video in Kodi, but not on mythtv-frontend - the_dingman - 2017-08-18

Greetings,

I have my backend running on a separate machine from my main Kodi machine. I'm running Kryton with the PVR addon, and while it does work, HD channels are choppy and slow, while if I run mythtv-frontend on the same machine, everything is smooth.

What settings or options could affect the difference between Kodi and mythtv-frontend?

Thanks

Kodi not using hardware decoding?

If you're using a raspberry pi and the video is MPEG2, you need a codec license to have hardware decoding.

I have hardware decoding on in all the settings options in Kodi. I'm running a full PC with Ubuntu, not a rasberry pi.

Ubuntu 16.04 LTS
AMD Athlon 64 3200
ATI RV350 Graphics

The machine has no problem in Kodi with full HD video rips.

Hmm, not sure about ATI graphics unfortunately. maybe a debug log while the problem is occurring would help. You could ask in the Linux sub, the people over there are much more knowledgeable than I. It definitely sounds like a kodi issue and not a Mythtv issue to me
