back up and restore... again. - forest.tek - 2017-08-25

OK I'm at a loss here. Again, from what I can tell, this time, nothing that I posted is listed on your official banned goodies list. The list also states that not all the banned items are listed, how is a noob like myself supposed to know? I am after all going from "your" list of things banned.

All I need to do is back up my kodi, its non DRMC violating librarys, and all of it's completely acceptable, non banned add-on's and let my folks copy that backup to their perfectly acceptable, non illegal, and containing nothing banned, fire stick.

Please... I'm only here for some help guys...

A bit of common sense can help a lot in these cases.

Any add-ons, repositories or 'builds' that can provide Kodi users (live) video streams of movies, tv shows, sports, or whatever FOR FREE while normally a fee, subscription or other type of payment is required, are off-limits. It's really not rocket science.

Or was there something else you didn't understand from our forum rules and our piracy policy?

'Community Portal' is from a repo in the banned list, which is why your post was binned. As far as your query goes, I don't really understand what you need a remote backup/restore tool for, what exactly are you updating? Any addons will be updated via their respective repo's, Library Integration requires no external input, I just don't understand what you will be doing remotely with this backup utility. Perhaps you could clarify what files you need to be updating remotely.

Clear enough thanks...

And to answer FXB78, Setting up a PVR, adding and tweaking things like primaeval's TV Guide Fullscreen, and the like are above my folks technical expertise. My goal is to make a fully working, functioning, constantly maintained KODI. Upload a copy of it (somewhere/somehow), so my folks can easily use a ''restore'' or some similar function to have ''that'' copy for themselves. I want this process to be as point and click / plug and play as possible, mostly for my own sanity. I'm sure you know what it's like updating / explaining things over the phone with your folks.

Again, thank you for the clarification(s) and i apologize for my frustration.

Something like TeamViewer would let you access the device & remotely tweak things. It's not exactly what you are asking but might be an option for you. Whilst a complete backup/restore option might sound good on paper, I would imagine it could cause you more problems than it solves Smile
