WMC backend Kodi front end - neilanthonystuckey - 2017-11-16

Hello all,

Sorry if this has been discussed before.  I am new to forums and not sure on how this all works.  Anyway i am waning to get rid of my set top boxes.  I am wanting to use a Silicon Dust HD Home Run Prime with a cable card subscription from Mediacom.  If i setup Windows 7 media center with the HD Home Run Prime can i schedule and view recordings from Kodi ? I know i have to use Windows Media Center to DVR DRM channels but i am unclear if i can schedule recordings and view them from Kodi ?

thanks,

Neil

Yes, you can schedule any recording (including DRM) and watch non-drm recordings and live TV from Kodi.

Read the wiki but the quick steps will be:
1. Install Windows 7 and get Windows Media Center fully operational.
2. Install ServerWMC on the Windows 7 machine.
3. Install Kodi on a client machine (or the same machine for testing) and configure the PVR WMC add-on.

That's the exact setup I have. (FiOS/Frontier)

Have 2 HDHR Primes (2 Cable Cards= 6 Tuners),  TunerSalad & ServerWMC on Win7

Raspberry Pi's @ TV's (Hardwired Cat5e cable)

Also have Raspberry Pi w/ HiFiBerry DAC + 7" Official touchscreen for whole house music.
