Problems with sources and profiles on Kodi 18 (centralized database SQL MariaDB10) - Alain_M - 2019-02-17

Hi all,

For the moment I use Kodi 17 on several platforms (PC windows 10 - Mini M8SII with libreelec) Total devices : 6

I created a centralized database under my Synology NAS with MariaDB10. We are 4 users with 4 different profiles with different sources for each of them.

Everything works perfectly under kodi 17 on all my platforms.

As kodi 18 is offically released, I wanted to test it.

I installed it on one of my PC (test) with windows 10 and also on a μSD with coreelec to test it on one of my box MINI M8SII. I created my 4 profiles with their sources. The database is well created under MariaDB10 (MyMusic60 and MyVideos116) and lists well the media of my sources.

But here is the problem I have with kodi 18 (and that I do not have with Kodi17), is that it does not take into account that the sources are different for each profiles. The 4 profiles includes all media from all sources (even those from other profiles). In other words, the 4 profiles have the same media while the sources are different

I tried with a profile without sources, all the media in the database are listed. Looks like kodi18 does not know how to filter, so it shows all the media that are saved in the database.

I do not have the same problem under kodi17, the media were well separated according to the sources filled in for each profile.

Did you encounter the same problem? And what is the solution for it to work properly as for Kodi17?

Any ideas?

Thanks a lot for your help.

Regards

Hello Alian,

same Problem like you. I use a emby Server on my synology. After synchronisation with different profiles and Kodi 18 I have the same media in each profiles. After I switch the profile settings to separat. Results: I can not start profiles except master-user.

I heart that's a Problem with profiles programming in Kodi 18 and will be fixed with Kodi 19. Either you stay at Kodi 17 with working profiles or you switch to Kodi 18 without profiles.

Best regards

What does happen if you try to start it. As I'm pretty fine able to use different profiles in Kodi which also have different databases with different content. So I would like to know what exactly your problem is, that you can't even start another profile.

A wild guess from my side...you don't see specific texts...could that be? As there's a workaround for that.

@Alain_M

Could it be possible that you haven't chosen the "start fresh" option while using those profiles? If you have copied your advancedsettings.xml to every existing profile, then it's pretty clear that you have the same content for all profiles. If you want to use a MySQL for each profile then I would suggest to create a MySQL for each profile if you are using the same profiles across different machines.

If you only want the "master profile" to make use of the MySQL DB and all other profiles have different sources from some NAS (not using a MySQL DB), then you have to chose the "start fresh" option for everything while setting up the profile. It sill works for me. But I have to admit, that I don't use a MySQL DB here.

Yes After searching the net, I found that under kodi 18 : Path substition for "sources" and profiles is broken, and will NOT be fixed.

In fact, the solution to solve the problem is to create a MySQLfor each profile.

Thank you for your reply
