Troubleshooting sporadic streaming timeouts advice? - redec - 2019-02-25 Hi, I'm experiencing a problem which I'm sure is not a problem with Kodi, but I don't really know how to troubleshoot it. Sporadically when watching content from my home server, the video will freeze and then stop...I click play right away again and it continues right where it left off and works fine. The kodi log says "ERROR: Read - Error( -1, 110, Connection timed out )", but there is no indication in the server logs that anything bad occurred. It happens maybe once per ~5 hours of viewing time, so it's not a huge deal...just often enough to be annoying. My setup is I have several raspberry pi's running kodi all around the house which stream content from my single home server - an older windows home server. It has worked flawlessly for several years, and about a month ago it started doing this - I didn't change anything, it just started happening out of the blue. All instances of Kodi started doing it at the same time, so I'm sure it's something to do with the backend and nothing to do with Kodi...but I'm not really sure how to go about figuring out what the problem is. I've tried changing the network switch and cables but that made no difference...at this point I'm thinking it must be some sort of problem on the home server, but I really don't know how to figure out if it's, say, a looming drive failure that's timing out once in a while, or a NIC failure or something...I'd kinda expect something in the event viewer if it was malfunctioning hardware, but there is nothing. I have SMART drive monitoring on the machine and it doesn't show anything suspect with the drives...the machine itself is an old HP mediasmart, so I can't really trial-and-error swap out hardware...so I'm kinda at a loss. Does anyone have any suggestions/ideas how to gain more visibility into what's going on?
