Windows MCE remote - Idiot question - Bobb25 - 2008-06-27

Hey guys, i am wondering whether you can point me in the right direction. I have just installed XBMC for windows (Awesome app... i am a long time Mediaportal user so i thouhgt i would give it a bash to compare) and I have a windows MCE remote, i think the model number is 1039 (See here for a pic: http://forum.xbmc.org/showpost.php?p=187115&postcount=2)

For some reason it doesnt work right. The "Ok" and arrow keys work, as does the mute etc, but the back button doesnt work? Am i missing something simple? What i have noticed is that the "clear" button at the bottom of the remote works as a back button... awfully strange.

Anything simple i am missing? Your assistance is appreciated!

I too came from Mediaportal & use the same remote. There are other solutions for it, but I found this the simplest:

Download & install:

Set it up for your MCE remove & for the keymapping look at the following file in notepad.

Documents and settings\YourUsername\Application Data\xbmc\userdata\keymap.xml

Thanks! I will give it a try again, i know when i first tried LM out it caused my XBMC to crash when i pushed a key on the remote... but i don't think i had set the keys up correctly so it was getting confused i reckon.

I just installed LM Remote Keymap... worked immediately!

One question... is there an XML already built for the remote so we do not need to "program" LM for each and every button?

revision... SOME of it worked, not all button. I just programmed all the buttons and the IR codes "took" in the app but when I try to use it with XBMC many of the buttons don't work... back, play, menu, and many others.

You mean you assigned Play/Pause with keystroke "p" in LM and it won't work in XMBC?

I found for some commands you need to change the keymap.xml to make LM Remote work. But It does work great.

Well, I'm just now setting up LM Remote and this is exactly the problem that I am having. Any suggestions? Or better yet, has anyone been kind enough to share their section of the profiles.xml? Eek

LM remote doesn`t work with atlantis a3 - 14676 - no problem. I don`t know why!

Grrr...Do we know of anything that does? (And supports the VMC RC6 remote)

UPDATE:

After checking for a response to this post, I wandered over for my daily viewing of the Atlantis thread and came across this: http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?p=210039

Just install it. No configuration necessary.

Now that the basics are done, let the tweaking begin!! Rofl
