Hi all, please look at the 2 screenshots then comment.

As you can see during my video cal i have to massively adjust the top left and bottom right overscan to 128,72 to get the full picture on my tv. I noticed that when playing 720p content the display resolution seems to reduce considerably from 1280x720 to 1022x575. Is anyone else noticed this with their setup. I'm using DVI to HDMI from a nvidia 8600GT

Hi,

HDMI on a TV has Overscan, you must adjust the Overscan over your Graphic-Driver.

I have a 1080p TV and I use an 8500GT. Using the latest Nvidia drivers and Windows Vista, I get no overscan. My TV maps the pixels 1 to 1. My question is do you get overscan while on the windows desktop?

Since your TV is probably 1366x768 native resolution, if you're using 1280x720 as your desktop resolution, your TV may add some overscan. I believe Nvidia cards support 1366x768. What is the native resolution of your TV?

Hi,

my TV has 1366x768 native resolution. Graphiccard is an ATI HD3650, for the HDMI-Port i use 1280x720p.

The TV has no 1:1 Pixelmapping, it stretch the screen bigger than the display, therefore i use the scale-option of the Catalyst-Driver with 6% Overscan, the scale option downscaled the screen inside the 1280x720p, and it works.

no, i have adjusted it in the nvidia control panel.

If I had a 1080p TV I know I woudn't have this problem but my tv's native res is 1366x768 and i'm unsure what to set my desktop and xbmc to. Found some information on 1:1 pixel mapping here http://pixelmapping.wikispaces.com/ but I am undecided which is "best". Do I let XBMC do the upscaling of the 720p content to 1360x768 to match my TV or do I let my TV do it? Either way still gives me this reduction in resolution from 720p to something like in the above photo.

OK, i believe your TV has for the 1080p no Overscan, reason > 1:1 Pixelmapping.

And for 720p it needs Overscan, but your HDMI-Signal has no Overscan and therefore pixels disappeared from screen, left, right, up and down.
