Adding Movies to USB/Library on one unit for use on another unit - Thomasx - 2019-12-11

Hi

I have a setup with Kodi 18.5 installed with CoreElec 9.2.1 on a Venz V10 box that is fitted in my car, so the kids can watch movies when we're on travel.
The movies are stored on a USB memory.
When adding movies, I take the USB memory only from the car, and add the movies to the USB memory with the PC in my house.
Then, adding the movies to the library and scraping the info, in the car, is a hazzle, for several reasons.

So, I would like to be able to do this in the PC, so when I add the USB to the box on the car, whatever I put on the USB, will show up in the Movies library with Title, art etc, right away.

I have understood I can do this by using "Export Library" and using "local files" in the car, but I just realized this will export the whole library everytime. I just need to export the last movie added.

Any suggestions on the setup/process I should use to get this working in a smooth way?

Thanks

Kodi wasn't designed to be dragged around across places. If the Car PC only has USB access, then USB drives is what you will have to work with.

Kodi does not (yet?) have that functionality.

Can you not use a 3rd party media manager to store all the art etc and an nfo file for each movie on the USB drive ?  Then if you set Kodi in your car to scrape local info only, anything new will be added in seconds.

Got info from CoreElec forum to export library on PC and the use local in car, first part worked fine and it is easy to add a movie on the pc, now I just need to test it in the car, I have no doubt it will work fine.

"export library and not write over old files", is what I intended to write above, this way only newly added files will be exportedWink
