Help needed: Accessing music on an NAS via UPnP - No Spam - 2008-08-04 My configuration: I recently bought an NAS with an DLNA certified UPnP AV Media Server. To try out how it works, I put some (10) mp3 files on the server. The next was looking for a UPnP AV Media Player for my WinXP PC: Google gave me XBMC. I installed XBMC, started it in the windowed mode, went through the settings pages and then added a UPnP music source. What worked: I was able to browse through my ten MP3s and I could play them. After some trying around I suddenly had those little playback controls visible and could stop the playback without exiting from XBMC... My problem: Convinced that my NAS's media server works, I moved all my MP3s (about 70 GB) to that device. But: When I now click on "My Music" and then on one of the entries "All", "Genre", "Artists" or "Albums" (no matter, which), - XBMC hangs for a moment (i.e. when I move the mouse, the XBMC mouse cursor doesn't move; the Windows mouse cursor gets visible, when I move the mouse further, to the outside of the XBMC window); and - after a while (about 5 secs), the XBMC mouse cursor will react again, but I'm still on the page "Artists, Albums etc". Please help me to find out what's wrong. Thank you! |
