Buffering while playing from a hard drive? - Blakestr - 2020-10-17 I can't seem to figure out why, when a movie has been playing for sometime, Kodi will start to buffer it. At first, I thought this was because the movie was too big, but then I saw it happening on regular 1080 P movies, not just 4k content. Here's my setup: Nvidia Shield Pro 2019 Seagate Portable 5TB External Hard Drive HDD (usb 3.0) 120 mb/s read It is plugged in directly to the Nvidia Shield, not through any usb hub. I've tried the logging but when it happens I can't seem to find any pattern, the nvidia shield can handle 4k content fine from what I gather and kodi's log didn't show me maxing out memory or cpu- what I don't understand Kodi seems to be playing things fine for awhile but then it will just start to buffer, after it has been playing for awhile. I get that if i fast forward through a 50g file, that's going to cause some hitching, but once it starts playing and fills whatever buffer Kodi has, it shouldn't do it again. It is difficult to find a pattern for this. I thought it might be my harddrive but I've been able to watch full length, 4k movies, like the LOTR, and it hasn't hiccup or paused for buffering once. Can you recommend where I should look next? |
