Eminence on Matrix (Solution) - kkirbatski - 2021-02-26
EDIT (by jurialmunkey 3-Oct-2021) - Eminence is now available on official repo for Matrix. Dependencies have been updated to work with Matrix out of the box so no workarounds are necessary
I was able to Eminence 2 working on Matrix, thought I would share.
Simply navigate to the contents of the skin
On Android: /sdcard/Android/data/org.xbmc.kodi/files/.kodi/addons/skin.eminence.2
On MacOS: /Users/kkirbatski/Library/Application Support/Kodi/addons/skin.eminence.2
On Windows: No clue.
Open up addon.xml, edit line 3 to be this:
xml:
<import addon="xbmc.gui" version="5.15.0" />
You're replacing the version from 5.14.0 to 5.15.0. This just tells Kodi that the skin is compatible with the latest gui ... which as far as I can tell, it is. I haven't noticed any issue yet. Obviously any of the dependencies that aren't compatible with Matrix won't magically be compatible now, but you can get your beloved skin back.

Thanks for sharing. Sadly I cannot install Eminence now that it updated. I did a fresh install with the update.

tried to grab the Eminence skin from github and install it but that was a dead end since all dependencies needed to be added manually

I downgraded to Leia, installed the skin and upgraded back to Matrix.

It did not work for me the first time I tried on the shield, too. But then I found that the addons stayed deactivated after the downgrade and I had to reactivate them under addons/all addons. Then it worked.

Because i try to activate under 19.0 the skin but i cant, it says its not compatible.

Not being able to bring over the familiar UI is one of the reasons I've been holding off on installing Matrix. I was really hoping someone would revive Eminence so it can be added from the official repository, but this at least looks like a promising workaround so I'll probably have to give upgrading it a go in the near future.

Did you modify the addon.xml as described in the first post in this thread?

Yes but the skin need some dependencies and i cant install them.

Before installing, check if the dependencies have been deactivated by your previous Matrix install under Add-ons/All and reactivate them.
The only thing that needed fixing was the shutdown menu, because the shutdown was not working, I had to reassign the close-action, but that were only a few clicks.
