How to exclude the name of a folder to be scanned but not its subfolders - druidasse - 2021-10-09

Hello,

My Video sections are organized like this:

Movies
> 0_NEW
>> 0_Family
>>> NotWatchedFamMovie1
>>> NotWatchedFamMovie2
>>> ...
>> NotWatchedMovieX
>> NotWatchedMovieY
>> ...
> WatchedMovie1
> WatchedMovie2
> ...

">" means it's a sub folder of the main folder "Movies"
">>" means it's a sub folder of the sub folder above it that has only one ">"
">>>" means it's a sub folder of the sub folder above it that has ">>"

Unfortunately kodi recently started to replace "0_NEW" "0_Family" and other main section names such as "Animes" or "Archives" by movie names and would set fanart/synopsis for these folders too. I guess it's probably linked to the way I reconfigured it after the install. I read several pages, such as this one, but did not find how I could exclude specific folder to not to have their name changed, and to not to have them scanned as if they were a movie. Is it possible?

TV Shows
> 0_New_Airing
>> NotWatchedTVShow1
>>> Season 1
>>>> NotWatchedTVShow1S1Ep1
>>>> NotWatchedTVShow1S1Ep2
>>>> ...
>>> ...
>> NotWatchedTVShow2
>>> Season 1
>>>> NotWatchedTVShow2S1Ep1
>>> Season 2
>>>> NotWatchedTVShow2S2Ep1
>>>> NotWatchedTVShow2S2Ep2
>>>> ...
>>> ...
>> ...
> WatchedTVShowX
>> Season 1
>>> WatchedTVShowXSZEp1
>>> WatchedTVShowXSZEp2
>>> ...
> ...

Even though I've been setting the proper name of the Show, then added the episodes in sub sections "Season 1", "Season 2" etc it's never been able to gather summary, names or fan art for any tv show or synopsis.

Note that naming in reality is more like this (movie names are named similarly and it works fine so...):

>> NotWatchedTVShow1
>>> Season 1
>>>> NotWatchedTVShow.S01E01.FRENCH.720p.BLAH

You need an extra level on the watched paths so you can do:

Movies (content set to none)
> New (content set to none)
>> Family (content set to Movies)
>>> NotWatchedMovie1
>>> NotWatchedMovie2
> Watched (content set to Movies) *extra level*
>> WatchedMovie3
>> WatchedMovie4

To change content at each level, select folder open context menu then select "Edit content".

TV Shows similarly also need an extra level.

TV Shows (content set to none)
> New_Airing (content set to TV shows)
>> NotWatchedTVShow1
>>> Season 1
...
>> NotWatchedTVShow2
>>> Season 1
...
> Watched (content set to TV shows) *extra level*
>> WatchedTVShowX
>>> Season 1

Thanks @jjd-uk I reorganized all of it and it's now more or less working! Smile

I wanted to set the subject to "[Solved] How to exclude the name of a folder to be scanned but not its subfolders" but it doesn't seem like I have the rights to edit it...

Your account is still at newbie level, so you don't yet have edit privs (it's a generic anti-spam measure on the board due to a number of drive-by spambots using it to delayed drop their payloads)

Thread marked solved.

No problem.

The rules to bear in in is that if your Movies and TV Shows reside in their own individual folders then the Content must be set on the folder (content parent folder) immediately above the the Movie/TV Show folders. If you organise content into several content parent folders then make sure content is unique to only one content parent folder in the folder structure. This was your problem, you had Movie/TV Show folders sitting directly underneath the main Movie/TV Show folders at the top level which would necessitate you setting content at that level, which normally would be fine, however you also had an embeded folder struture for the new content confusing the srapers.

So what Kodi would have been doing before is trying to scrape

New
Family

as Movies titles as they sit directly below the main Movie folder where I assume content was set before.

Similarly with

0_New_Airing

this would have been viewed as a TV Show title to scrape.

Thanks, strange part is that it used to work this way for movies in my previous installations. Anyways, it's working now, even TV shows which had never worked before! Smile
