Chronological approach to movies in Library even if in sets?? - kittmaster - 2021-10-30

What is the best way to handle a series to be shown in the library in the exact order of release even if the names are not in order?

My solution before coming to Kodi I did the following to solve my issue:

Image

The other software would put the series in order because the file names are in logical order....my old system was a flat hierarchy where the filenames set the order. With Kodi, if it goes by the actual title name....the order is sorted alphabetically.

How do I have the movies show in the library in the sequence that they were released in?

I've searched the forum and didn't really see an answer that made sense to me.

Best approach for this??

Thanks,
Chris

If you want to sort by Release Year, then pull out the left sideblade menu and sort by "Year"

There is also an option to add a Sort Title to a movie. Call up the Context Menu>Manage>Edit Sort Title.

H Karellen,

The first one is a clear solution, I should have probably prefaced the inquiry to where I want to keep the library alphabetical but have the movies in question in the proper year alignment based on their release date.

I am using Media Companion from my previous first post inquiry, I think the sort order is the key here for what I want to do and it didn't make sense until you mentioned it.

I will test this on an offline local source to see if this is what I want it to do...then I'll implement it accordingly if it sorts as expected.

Thanks for the response.

Best,
Chris
