Kodi Does Not Recognise pre-1902 production dates - buhochileno - 2022-05-16

Hi Guys,

New here so hi to everyone...

I notes on this issue?, I have a similar problem where my pre-1902 collection is added but as future years! ...haha, so ironic :-P ...but only happen on kodi on my android tv, kodi on my ubuntu systems show all of them with the correct year...I'm using .nfo files that I create using the kodi nfo template page...

So for instance the "Roundhay Garden Scene"  instead of been listed as 1888, it gets under year 2024! lol...but only on kodi my on androidtv, on my computer is correctly listed under year 1888. ..so my guest is that my .nfo is not so wrong, but definitely have something that is misunderstand on kodi for androidtv...and yes I using "premiereddate" tag and not the "year" tag...I will copy the content of the file bellow..

From some tests that I do, I can say that the python movie db scrapper is not picking up pre-1902 movies no matter if is on my computer or on androidtv, in both I have to use the Movie Database scrapper (not the python one..)..but as I say, it only seems to correclty set the year on my ubuntu system, but not on androidtv..

About the versions..
Ubuntu 20.04 with Kodi 18.6 (I pretty sure is not 19 due the package name...)
Kodi on androidtv version 19.3, androidtv v9..

I have all my systems set in US english, but I was thinking that perhaps was something related to UTF-8 on my androidtv miss reading the date?....also just for a test I try with the "year" tag with the same result and I also try adding the "id" tag and using the imdb or the tmdb id's, same thing, always display as future years on androidtv...as far as I can check I using the correct imdb and tvmdb unique id's

Any suggestions?...what else can I provide to help with the issue?...

Thanks guys!

@buhochileno

Can you please provide a full Debug Log that captures you scraping that movie into your library.
thanks.

Ubuntu's own repository isn't the fasted one updated, so if you don't use Kodi's own PPA then you will surely don't have the latest Kodi 19.x version. I run a Ubuntu 20.04 machine as well.

Not sure what the python scrapers use, but I know dateutil and arrow both have some issues with really old dates and really new .

I actually have a GitHub issue open on arrow

The TMDb TV Show scraper doesn't do any date calculations.  It takes the first aired date as a string and uses the year from that as the show year (by knowing what format the date string is and chopping off what it doesn't need).  I looked through the Python movie scraper, and it also takes the date as a string from TMDb.  If you're putting stuff in an info file, then the scrapers aren't used at all, and I'm not sure what Kodi core is doing with the info from the NFO file.

...ok, but Kodi on Ubuntu actually works, it shows the correct years once the .nfo file is created..the issue is with Kodi matrix on androidtv...

RE: Kodi Does Not Recognise pre-1902 production dates - buhochileno - 2022-05-20

without the nfo file for pre-1902 release non scraper is doing their job, the python or the direct one just doesn't take those movies into account, if Only when I add the nfo file that the non-python scraper start pickup up the movies but only correctly set the year on my computer, not in androidtv..

Hi Karellen,
Sorry I miss your reply, here is a log....for the test I duplicate the Roundhay... video at another location with the .nfo file that I previously post...it was added again as year 2024 on my androidtv ...Looking at the file I notice it says "' does not exist - skipping scan.", my guess it means it will use the .nfo file?...if not how is that it does get added to the list, only with a wrong year...I lost...

This is no good. You did not enable Debug Mode.
Also, the film you tried to scan does not exist in your Source...

<general>: Process directory 'smb://192.168.0.5/Videos2/Old.Collection.1888-1915/Roundhay Garden Scene (1888)/' does not exist - skipping scan.

..sorry I miss the debug mode thing...here is again..

About the path, I  not sure why kodi keep looking there, that path doesn't exist anymore on the source, it was change it to 'smb://192.168.0.5/Videos2/Old.Collection.1888-1920/...' ...so my guess those are old entries on the kodi db form where that folder had that name...

But now I move the Roundhay... folder to just "smb://192.168.0.5/Videos2/" , in an attempt to ask kodi to read that "new" folder once I ask for a content refresh on that source...this log file is with the video at this new location...

That is better. Unfortunately, it is of little use as not enough info was logged.

I tested your movie on my Windows system and could not replicate the issue...

What happens if you try to scrape this movie instead of using nfo files? Why are you using nfo files especially your one that is very lacking?

..well on my ubuntu with an older kodi it also add the movie with the correct year..

I trying to use nfo files because without one it seems that moviedb scrapper is completely ignoring the folder....
Not sure how to make kodi to "scrape this movie instead of using nfo files" ...I was guessing that was I was doing with the nfo file pointing to the exact entry you show me on themoviedb.org ...

I will make a new log without any nfo file on the folder..

..btw, I remeber that I did kid of a reverse engineering test last week, ..I ask kodi to save the databse as separated files and replace the old one...so a new .nfo file was created by kodi for the Roundhay... video, when I check that file I notice that it was full with the correct info for that movie (like full nfo tags, correct imdb and tmdb id's, etc), but still with the incorrect future year for both the year and also the premiered tag....Then I fix just that on that file and ask kodi to update the source, but it keep ignoring 1888 and replaced on screen with 2024 ....In that case I was using the file created by kodi itself and not mine, only correcting the year ...

..ok, this log is without any nfo file inside the folder.  Roundhay folder is located at "smb://192.168.0.5/Videos2/

kodi is not adding the movie as 1888 neither 2024...same happen with the python scraper...

..for an additional piece of information, kodi 18.6 on ubuntu do read correctly my .nfo file and also the one made using the one created by kodi as base...but both scrappers on ubuntu and on androidtv just ignores pre-1902 movies if there isn't a .nfo file with the movie
