Removing OSD - I've read all instructions in this forum and on the internet, but..... - sputterbug10 - 2022-06-19 I HATE that blue bar at the bottom of the tv that comes up every time I pause a movie. I want it gone!!! But apparently, I am not the brightest bulb. I don't want to admit how many hours over how many days I have been trying to figure out what everyone else knows. I have a firestick. I use the remote. I do not have a computer connected to my tv. I was trying to follow the instructions here: https://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=356140&pid=2971509&highlight=DialogSeekBar.xml#pid2971509 . The person states that he copied Estuary from /usr to /storage" using: "cp -r /usr/share/kodi/addons/skin.estuary .kodi/userdata/addon_data/skin.estuarycusto Where did he type all that information in at? I assume "cp" means copy. Where in the world, or what in the world is "-r" and where is "usr" and "share"? I opened es file explorer and searched for all of these and cannot find them. Do I search under library or storage or local or..... I don't even know where to look. Then he said he: Copied setting.xml from estuary to my new skin: cp .kodi/userdata/addon_data/skin.estuary/settings.xml .kodi/userdata/addon_data/skin.estuarycusto/resources/ He states he: Change id and name in addon.xml vi .kodi/userdata/addon_data/skin.estuarycusto/addon.xml What "id" is he talking about? and where did he do this. On a computer I can go to CMD and type all sorts of instructions there, but using the the firestick and kodi, I have no idea where any of these commands would be put. Is he going to each file and "copying" them to another file somehow? or is he typing it all out as a command in some area in kodi that I can't find. I'm so stumped I feel like I have the intelligence of a stump. There must be a place to access to type this stuff in at that I'm not finding. Some people are saying to change the information in the "DialogSeekBar.xml" file. Where in the world is that? and how do I get to it in order to change it. I hope someone out there can explain all of this to me as if I was a 2-year old because obviously I need it that way. Thank you so much. RE: Removing OSD - I've read all instructions in this forum and on the internet, but..... - jjd-uk - 2022-06-20 What Kodi version are you using? as it does not do that anymore on V19 so simplest way would be to upgrade your Kodi version. Those instructions you saw are for a Linux computer so no good for a Firestick. V19 Estuary seekbar - note that when paused the OSD will close after 5 sec . RE: Removing OSD - I've read all instructions in this forum and on the internet, but..... - sputterbug10 - 2022-06-27 Thank you. So I'll need to upgrade from Leia? Are there any problems with add-ons from Leia if I do that? RE: Removing OSD - I've read all instructions in this forum and on the internet, but..... - jjd-uk - 2022-06-27 Addon use a programming language called Python, and the Python version Kodi is compatible with received an update from Python 2 to Python 3 as Python 2 is no longer supported for security fixes. This means for addons to run on Kodi they must be Python 3 compatible. If you exclusively have addons from the Official Kodi repo then you can check if the addons you use are listed at http://mirrors.kodi.tv/addons/matrix/ if you use addons from other repos then you'll need to check with where you got them from whether Matrix versions are available. |
