4K HDR HEVC H265 color problem - Istria - 2022-07-24
Hello all,
I've had this problem for a while. Whenever I try to play videos that are 4K HDR in the HEVC codec, the colors and brightness are completely wrong (and unwatchable).
In Kodi:
In Plex (or VLC, MXPlayer, Jellyfin):
This only happens when using the hardware encoder. When I disable "Allow hardware acceleration" in Kodi settings, the picture is good (but the cpu is too weak for smooth playback and therefore stutters a lot).
I reinstalled Kodi to have a clean slate for debugging:
- Uninstalled Kodi.
- Installed latest nightly (2.0-ALPHA2 19.90.705).
- Installed Kodi Log File Uploader.
- Added file path to the SMB share with my movies.
- Restarted Kodi.
- Played "Testclip #1" for 10s.
- Uploaded the logs with the addon: https://paste.kodi.tv/eniqihulel
Device:
Transpeed 6K Ultra - Android 10 - Allwinner H616
This exclusively seems to happen with 4K HDR files. 4K SDR files do play fine. Hope someone has an idea what it could. Thanks in advance!

I guess I should have included a mediainfo summary. And also I should have mentioned that the Plex playback is NOT transcoded. It's direct play. (Is there no edit button, or do I just not see it?).
