Change screen size / only use part of the screen - GodzillaXP - 2022-08-16 I am about to by a big LG OLED TV (77"). Currently I have a linux media pc, but I want to migrate the backend to my home server and use something like the Chromecast with Google TV for the frontend. Sometimes I am sitting closer to the TV (when I eat on the couch or sit at the desk next to the TV. I this cases I do not need the big screen and would like to reduce the size to ~1/4 to save energy. As a lazy person I would like to do this automatically via my smart home (openHAB). So... 1) Is there an easy way to shrink the visible Kodi screen to a specific part of the display? (like the top left corner) I think the over scan feature could be used for this. But it looks like this could be hard to configure every time. 2) Ideally I would script something to use random positions on the screen to eaven the wear of each pixel. Does the API support something? I did not find anything. On a linux machine, there might be other ways to change the window position and size. But on an Android device this might be difficult, I guess. In a perfect world the TV would have such feature and could be controlled by smart home easily. |
