extra space used for pics - lharms - 2022-08-19

So not sure where to post this.

So I have a kodi setup.  It points at a synology.  Music and video ISOs.

I added the artwork dump plugin.  So it keeps my pics for my vids and movies side by side with the media.  That works decent enough.

This is where it gets weird.

I add a new bit of media.  The scrape happens correctly.  It snags the proper pics.  But the size free on the synology is wrong.  Usually by about 2x.

For example I recently added a new music album.  It snagged 3 files to put side by side with it.

So far so good.

Free space on drive after doing this.
16,329,977,790,464 bytes free

I then log into the syno cp the files to another folder and put them back where they were.  Sizes of files remain the same.  However free space is now different.
16,329,978,880,000 bytes free

A difference of 2,277,376 bytes.  About the same size as all three files plus about 200k.

Now I have tried to get the syno to do this from explorer and the cli from windows just copying random png/jpg files.  However, I have not been able to get it to do it.  Only kodi seems to have some magic it is doing to cause this?

Any hints on where the extra space is going?  An ACL?  Alt stream?  Something?  And what is kodi doing different that causes it?

Has anyone else seen this?
