Keeping libraries separate external hdd vs NAS - Chalklands - 2022-08-28

I currently use Kodi on a Nvidia Shield with my media on an external HDD connected to my laptop.

I've just invested in a Synology NAS, which I intend to use as a direct replacement for the hdd once it is up and running.
In the interim, I don't want to mess up the current settings. Would creating a second 'test' profile mean that I can initially copy my current settings to the test profile and then use that to tinker with whilst I get my nas library working how I want it to. Would that leave my current profile totally alone?
