How does "Arctic: Zephyr - Reloaded" theme work & is it legal? - juhoer - 2023-11-14
When trying out Arctic: Zephyr - Reloaded theme that I downloaded from the settings menu, I first noticed how suspicious it looked, since it showed me icons of movies, that weren't on my library.
I clicked on one of the icons and it started to download something. Then it asked me to play it with "UPnP", from xbmc.core.
Now sadly my time to research what UPnP does is extremely limited, therefore even after reading it's Wikipedia page, I'm not sure is that a local network thing, or something that could work in larger scale networks.
In other words, I'm not sure is this theme trying to make me sent my legally owned movies into it from my other devices, or is it actually trying to make me pirate movies illegally by downloading them from somewhere?!
The most likely scenario is that I'm over-reacting, and this theme is perfectly legal, but I want to be 100% sure.

being that this forum has zero tolerance for piracy and that skin has it's own official section in skins then i would expect you are over reacting or you have other things installed

if you would like you can post a Debug Log then anyone could look it over and advise on any obviously bad addons (not that everyone knows all the bad addons but for the most part they are known)

If you'd checked it out a bit more you'd see it either plays a trailer on YouTube or searches YouTube. The list was probably of movies in the cinema.

Yes, there are various plugins that provide info from the "scraper" sites like TMDB and skins might display that as widgets. Or sites like Trakt that provide info on what other users are watching, also can be displayed as widgets.
Probably why folks choose add-on skins in the first place -- get more than just what the library itself might provide. As far as UPNP, sounds like OP has a server somewhere probably on his/her LAN that Kodi found.
