Audio output through toslink will at some point turn bad/distorted, requiring reboot - Sumguy - 2024-01-08

I'm running kodi 19.5 on a Mygica box (I can post specs if necessary).  The only audio output the box has is toslink, I have that connected to a audio/video receiver.  When playing music from a NAS library, it will always happen that at some point the audio will become distorted (like it's gone from 16-bit to 8-bit).  Unplugging / replugging the toslink cable doesn't fix it.  Power-cycling the receiver doesn't fix it.  Soft rebooting or hard restarting the android box always fixes the problem, the audio comes back correctly, but it could be another 1/2 or 1 hour and the problem is back.

This problem seems worse when playing musiic.  When using a streaming add-on the box will play audio/video for hours and this problem might not even happen once during an evening session, but sometimes it will.

Any ideas?  Can I poke around with device drivers / updates on this box?  Manually install these files maybe?

This might not / probably isin't a kodi issue, but I don't know what other web forum would be on-target for this.
