using newest XBMC on WinXP
I am using both the onboard and a pci card for sound
my goal was for either mediaportal or xbmc to output from the onboard and everything else to use the pci. I set the Creative PCI (in windows' sound settings) as the default and i've been manually setting other things to use the nvidia ondboard. It works. Mostly. The only 2 programs I can't get to work are Media Portal (which outputs to the right device but only in mono for some reason) and XBMC (which I can't find a setting for changing this).
