DTS HD MA, Dolby True HD, Atmos troubles .... again - raptorq - 2024-02-14 Hey guys, first of all, I rarely have Videos in the above mentioned HD sound formats, but sometimes I do. Would like to have it working. I am pretty sure, it worked a while ago. Probably the last time I played a DTS HD Video was a year ago. Tried again yesterday and ... no sound. Tested Dolby True HD, DTS HD MA, Atmos .... all not working. The Receiver does only show 2 Channel Stereo Input. Passthrough of Dolby Digital 5.1, AC-3, DTS works as expected, all Signals get passed through to my Denon AVC 8500HA and are detected correctly. Here's my Setup: Intel i5-8600T AsRock Z370 Gaming ATX Ubuntu 22.04.3, latest Updates Kodi from stable Repository, 20.2 HDMI 2.0 Output from Mainboard to Denon AVC 8500HA I have Pulseaudio disabled, and am using ALSA only. So, I don't think its an Pulse issue. "Sync playback to display" is disabled, since otherwise Passthrough wouldn't happen at all. Attached you'll find my Audio settings and 2 log files with debug logging. kodi.log.dd51 - playing a Dolby Digital 5.1 file correctly https://pastes.io/6vahks6rjy kodi.log.dolbytruehd_atmos - playing a True HD Atmos Sample which produces no sound https://pastes.io/hxru03exae Kodi Audio Settings: https://ibb.co/MgHmrRM https://ibb.co/kmbRJ7x DTS HD MA, Dolby True HD, Atmos troubles .... again - DarrenHill - 2024-02-14 The forum moderators have determined that banned addons (wiki) are present on your system. RE: DTS HD MA, Dolby True HD, Atmos troubles .... again - raptorq - 2024-02-14 Alright, will fix this later tonight. Sorry for that. RE: DTS HD MA, Dolby True HD, Atmos troubles .... again - raptorq - 2024-02-15 Alright, cleaned my installation regarding addons and here are the new logs, hopefully compliant with forum rules: kodi.log.dd51 - playing a Dolby Digital 5.1 file correctly https://pastes.io/alpczy7yk0 kodi.log.dolbytruehd_atmos - playing a True HD Atmos Sample which produces no sound https://pastes.io/o9mne4xrty Thanks, raptor RE: DTS HD MA, Dolby True HD, Atmos troubles .... again - HomerJau - 2024-02-15 @raptorq I had same issue on a couple of Intel NUC8i3BEH with a new Denon x4800H AVR recently and the fix was to update the NUC’s HDMI firmware. It’s worth a try if you can find the latest firmware. Your AVR has same HDMI board as the x4800H I believe. My NUCs are Bean Canyon with Iris Plus Graphics 655 graphics (HDMI 2.0a). https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/download-center/home.html RE: DTS HD MA, Dolby True HD, Atmos troubles .... again - raptorq - 2024-02-15 Hey man, thanks for the reply. Well, I don't have a NUC, its a PC with the above mentioned AsRock Mainboard. Latest Bios is from 2021. I doubt there are dedicated "HDMI Firmware Updates" for Mainboards. And for sure it's not an AVR issue, I can play 4K Atmos Content just fine from my FireTV Cube or directly with the LG TV builtin Netflix App and the Denon AVR recognizes the Atmos Stream as such. Strange thing is, that I am really sure that I had this working like a year ago .... maybe it's some weird Intel Video / HD Sound driver issue .... BTW, i just tried the latest Libreelec Build from an USB Stick. Same issue .... Take care, raptor RE: DTS HD MA, Dolby True HD, Atmos troubles .... again - raptorq - 2024-02-17 Hey, update for anyone interested... I got it working :-) After almost giving up on those HD Sound formats (tried several HDMI Cables, 2.0 and 2.1 ones), I ordered a Display Port to HDMI 4k60 capable cable and tested it today. And voila ... all HD Sound formats work as expected, Dolby True HD/Atmos and DTS HD MA. Passed through Kodi and detected by my AVR as it should be. Tested surround samples and a 4K/24p Movie with Atmos Sound. Anyways, I swear that this worked through the HDMI Output (which I have been using since I got the hardware) 1 or 2 years ago as well. BTW, both outputs are recognized in Kodi as "Display Port", the HDMI as #1 and the physical Display Port as #0. According to AsRock the Display Port is 1.2 and the HDMI Port 2.0. Anyway, just happy that this works now. Hope it stays that way. Take care and thanks, raptor RE: DTS HD MA, Dolby True HD, Atmos troubles .... again - jjd-uk - 2024-02-18 To me that confirms the HDMI firmware for that motherboard needs updating. RE: DTS HD MA, Dolby True HD, Atmos troubles .... again - raptorq - 2024-02-18 Well, I would if there was an Update ;-) RE: DTS HD MA, Dolby True HD, Atmos troubles .... again - perceptive - 2024-03-05 (2024-02-17, 19:35)raptorq Wrote: Hey, update for anyone interested... I got it working :-) Can you please post the cable you purchased? I have one but it lags like crazy and audio problems are crazy. Secondly, how do you get pulseaudio to get out of the way. I have previously tried disabling pulse audio etc. but Kodi does not output audio properly to my DisplayPort. Thanks!
