Kodi + PCF = ZDMC on a Android Mediaplayer (Zidoo UHD3000)? - Reelyator - 2024-05-10
In the past the manufacturer Zidoo has provided a Kodi Fork named ZDMC. ZDMC uses the Zidoo-Player instead of the default Kodi Player to take full advantage of the Zidoo Hardware. Unfortunately ZDMC seems to be not maintained any longer as the last official release is based on the pretty outdated 19.4.
Therefore i am looking for an alternative. Question: Has anybody here managed to make Kodi using the Zidoo Player as an external player by using a PCF (playercorefactory.xml) like described here:

Not knowing the path to the Zidoo player executable, i am already failing at line 3+4 of the PCF....

...and in the forum. They did not even MENTION that ZDMC 20.x was worked on!
I have little hope that this will get better with Kodi 21+....

Warning: Don't update to v21 of ZDMC!
I lost all ability to access my USB hard drive, which can be seen in the log file as well ("error <general>: GetDirectory - Error gettin...").
According to a post in another forum this problem seems to exist since August, so I don't have much hope this will be addressed in a timely manner:

As I dont know of any other method to downgrade it looks like I have to delete ZDMC completely, install version 20.2 again, and hope that I can import most of my settings. Last time when I bought a new version of my media player some weeks ago I had to make dozens of my settings again, as they were not included in the Backup addon.
PS: my device is an Orbsmart R82, which is said to be more or less identical to the Zidoo.

not the Orbsmart or the Zidoo or the ZDMC forum
