Weird IPTV Problem - not playing stream - umbertones - 2024-05-29
Hello,
I recently did the "buster to bookwork jump" on my raspberrys with raspbian and kodi.
While the RPI3 works fine so far, my RPi4 leaves me clueless.
IPTV-Simple seems to start (The screen and Yatse show a running stream) but there is no audio and no video just the circles.
The debug-log show no obvious errors, demuxer is created...looks like it's working

When I start the stream with this url on vlc (outside kodi) audio and video is present so it's not a network issue - I hope. :-)
The main differences between the two units are
RPI3 vs RPI4
wired network vs. wireless network
Original Site vs Remote Site connected via "VPN between two Fritz-Box-Routers"
Any thing I missed concerning setup on the RPI4? It's my first RPI4 with kodi.
Any ideas what might happen here? Thanks in advance

Ok, sorry. Found the github-repo later and considered it active.
Since you analyzed it as a kodi related problem, what can you recommend for further debugging or configuration?

Ok, I can add another story to that, don't know whether it's related or helpful.
At first I tried to upgrade my RPI3 from buster via bullseye to bookworm with the classic unix method (edit sources.list, run update).
That worked well, but then I had the same issue with not playing the streams anymore (that worked with buster flawlessly).
I then decided to install the RPI3 bookworm from scratch and the streams worked well.

Hmmm, then this feels like a library problem.
As a test can you install LibreElec on the RPI4 and see if that plays the streams correctly? That would rule out an unlikely HW issue.

Nope.
Libreelec is not an option because there are other services running on that device.

The stream play fine in VLC. I think that rules out hardware issues quite well

Nope you don't want to try or nope it doesn't work? The suggestion was not made to get you to use LE.
You never posted the VLC URL you were using to confirm they were the same.

No it doesn't rule out h/w issues since you are running native Linux and Kodi is not VLC. Perhaps send the debug logs from the LibreELEC test you did.

I had Hardware problems with my Raspi, so I switched to a Intel-Based system.
Unfortunately this box successfully refused all efforts to install Linux, so I switched to Kod 21 on Win10.
IPTV simple was working fine and I even found windows solutions for the automatic update of the EPG- and Streaming-URL-Lists (curl is standard on Win10, that was novel to me).
Today the box installed an updated for IPTV simple and now I'm stuck with the same behaviour. The Stream seems to be running (name of stream is visible on the top right corner) and on Yatse (Name and Controls are visible at the bottom), but no video nor audio and the yellow circles on the screen).
New version is 21.8.5. I switched back to the installed 21.8.4, but it remained broken. Input stream adaptive was updated as well, but jumping back to 24.11.10 or 24.1.9 did not resolve the issue either.
Any idea on that? Thanks in advance.
