Skin Lag Issues with FireStick 4k Max - Cosmic98 - 2024-06-18
Hey all,
So I’m trying to build a skin with a Netflix feel for my Firestick 4k Max. The problem is: with almost any skin even the lighter ones, as soon as I start adding widgets the skin UI gets super laggy. I’ve tried only using 6 widgets total and I still get the lag almost like the Firestick can’t handle it at all. Less widgets it improves but still get some lag.
Before you mention the Nvidea Shield TV Pro: I bought one to test if it was actually the Firestick that couldn’t handle the skins but I got pretty much the same performance on the Shield TV. It was a little better but not enough to keep it. I ended up returning it.
I also tried on another Firestick to make sure both pieces of hardware I tried on weren’t faulty. Same results.
Network speed: plenty- 500+ MBS
Skins tested: Arctic Fuse, Arctic Horizon 2
To be tested: FENtastic- but I’d rather not use an FEN skin as I like to use TMDB Helper
Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated.

Any kind of widget that involves having a few movie or show titles in poster form. For example: one of my Trakt lists in widget form

Just a few items per widget then, nothing excessively large?
My skin (fTV) can have 8 widgets (each containing 6 items) for a total of 8 main list items and that doesn't lag on my Shield TV.

Any type of widget from add ons like Trakt, tmdb helper, fen light, etc… as a poster with the art for the background as well as the poster and a limit of 20 items with a more items button at the end
