Tv box for kodi without internet access - jhjorsal - 2024-06-27 I am looking for suggestions for a TV box that can run kodi and iptv on a closed network without internet access. there is an iptv broadcast TV system and a nas server on the network. can anyone recommend a TV box, it doesn't have to be high resolution like 4K, as there are only old TVs on the network RE: Tv box for kodi without internet access - Atreyu - 2024-06-27 I would say anything you like. I like odroids running coreelec, because of the 'no fuzz' experience. RE: Tv box for kodi without internet access - jhjorsal - 2024-06-28 Thanks, I was thinking more of a simple TV box like Chromecast, but Chromecast requires internet to work. The users are not very technically minded, so it has to be simple. RE: Tv box for kodi without internet access - Atreyu - 2024-06-28 Hence my suggestion Ofcourse there are a lot of alternatives, all more elaborate / less simple then just a Just enough OS solution. Good luck! Can you elaborate on your iptv setup and broadcast comment ? Is it really IP TV streaming over the Internet or OTA broadcast fed to the TVs via IP and tuners ? If it is OTA broadcast being fed via IP to the TVs then there are solutions available for this. I run one today. The one challenge is getting a channel guide to the TVs since those often require Internet access or some form of guide sharing. I do a form of this today with Mezzmo and the Mezzmo Kodi addon for OTA broadcasts and locally hosted media. Mezzmo has the ability to do a stream capture for OTA broadcasts coming off the tuners via IP for as many channels as you want to map. It then presents the streams to the clients for playback. As many clients can access it as you have available tuners, 12 in my case. The built-in PVR records programs I like to keep, adds them to the on demand recorded folder and all clients can then playback recorded shows automatically. Other Kodi sharing solutions have some similar features. Thanks, Jeff RE: Tv box for kodi without internet access - jhjorsal - 2024-06-30 I work on a ship where we have a Triax TDX IP TV broadcast system with 10 DVB S inputs, 6 HDMI inputs, and the Triax system can make 24 IPTV outputs for a media network that is not connected to the Internet. On this network there is also a Synology NAS Server, and on the client side in front of the television today there is a MAG322 box (IPTV Box) which is super good for IPTV, but rather bad for the NAS, you can browse to the contents of the NAS The server via Media Home, but I would like to have a box that can both IPTV and KODI, and which is not difficult for the users to use. |
