SlyGuy Pluto Add On Stops Playing - dshorrosh - 2024-07-10
The Pluto add on now randomly stops video playback on any live stream (no on-demand option), and either the screen goes back to the channel listing -or- Kodi crashes. Started within the past week or so. I've made no config changes and initially set up according to instructions.

itll be an inputstream.adaptive issue. if your on windows, update C++ Redistrutable (https://github.com/matthuisman/slyguy.addons/issues/788)
Or try disable use inpustream adaptive for hls in the addon settings

Thanks for the pointer for logging issues.
Tried both updating the C++ redistributable and disabling inputstream adaptive for hls to 'Off' in the addon settings, still no joy.

you might want to try to install older inputstream.adaptive version. its pretty unstable currently due to big re-writes
latest is v21.4.10 which was released 2 weeks ago
maybe try 21.4.9 ?
you could also try Kodi 19.5 which uses older Inputstream adaptive and see if that is any better

Thanks for the advice, went back to inputstream.addaptive+windows v20.3.16 and Pluto still stops after 30 seconds and goes back to the menu. FWIW this affects both my Windows and OSMC / RP builds.

Same for me on five devices! Two Sony Android smart TVs both on Kodi 18.9, two nVidia Shield TV both on Kodi 21 and a Windows 10 Dell PC on Kodi 21.
The Pluto add-on behaves exactly the same on all 5 devices, no more than 17 seconds on any stream beforeeither freeezing or back to list.

Seeing the same thing on my Kodi 21/Win 10/MS Visual C++ 14.40.33810.0/IA 21.4.10 system
Pluto video freezes, and Samsung TV Plus and Plex Live TV have momentary freezes and stutters but will still play

Same, except I'm lucky if it plays for more than 3 to 5 seconds. If I have InputStream.Adaptive turned off, it just stops the stream and returns to the channel list. If I have it turned on, it crashes Kodi completely. This is with a Raspberry Pi 4 running OSMC and Kodi 20.5.

I had this problem and found out that, in my case, it was an intel microcode bug. I updated the N100 microcode on my Opnsense router and resolved the issue. Search for "How to enable automatic microcode updates" on opnsense.org.

After going in to the app settings and enabling 'Use Alternate Sreams' under 'Look & Feel', three of my devices have Pluto TV working again. On my Windows 10 PC, selecting any Pluto channel immediately crashes Kodi.

Same. Playback just abruptly stops after about ten seconds. PC (v20 & v21) and Pi4 running LibreElec (v20 & v21). Just seems to be from Pluto, Plex channels play fine.
