Movies not playing properly after changing out a movie series - Slippierknots - 2024-07-28 I am still trying to learn Kodi when I have time. I have been trying to learn audio and have been playing with Kodi and Windows settings to get the best sound out of the hardware I currently have. So, I have been replacing movie files that I think have better sound to match what I have available in my home. I changed out a movie series that I currently have that happens to be .mp4 format to .mkv and it wouldn’t play. I followed the directions on creating a log so that I could see what I did wrong or if it was just the files. The files that I changed to and wouldn’t play, play fine in windows media player. I also swapped the movie files back to the original ones and that seemed to fix the issue. I am looking at the log and trying to find where it played the mkv file but can only find where I think it is saying I removed them from the library. So, I guess I am curious if the log will point me in the right direction if I can get some help. Any help would be appreciated. Here is the log file for creating the movie play issue. Anytime you change the filename or the path, you need to scan it back into the library. I can see you playing smb://KirbyWin/MediaCenter/Movies/The Terminator (1984)/The Terminator (1984).mp4 , but I thought you stated changing to mkv? Also it looks like you have an audio issue with your setup. You are using SPDIF - Realtek Digital Output (Realtek® Audio) . Is this the best audio setup for your use? You don't have an AV receiver? Not using HDMI?Use WASAPI and not DirectSound. RE: Movies not playing properly after changing out a movie series - Slippierknots - 2024-07-29 I removed the .mp4 files from the movie folders and replaced them with the .mkv files. I ran Kodi and removed the movies from the library and rescanned to get the new format back in the library. Then the movies do not play correctly and oddly enough neither did any other movie that I tried in my library. So, I swapped files again using that same method and movies ran fine again. I can see the .mkv file in the log file but am not sure how to interpret that information. Thank you for the audio input. I do not have the ideal setup for my computer yet. I have an old Sony receiver that is DTS, Prologic II and is only an audio receiver…. The best connection I can run to it is optical…. Now that I think of it, I have a connector to switch from HDMI to optical, but I’m guessing that would be the same as just using an optical since it has to travel through that connector to the optical receiver… but I only have one HDMI output from my Nvidia Geforce RTX 3060 with the other Display ports…I thought about buying a display port cord and run both audio and video out of my graphics card but I wasn’t sure yet that would make a difference. So, the optical right now to the receiver is connected to just the motherboard’s output. (Realtek) This setup is what I am trying to figure out and understand and how to push it. The sound is pretty good I just feel it could be better but I have no remote for the receiver and everything seems to be automatic ( I do not care for it but it is what I had available to me for now) I am also playing with Dolby Access app for the PC since I do not have much control with the receiver if that makes any sense I do not know. Do you feel that it would be better to use WASAPI still? Just remember that spdif has limitations and cannot output lossless audio like TrueHD, MasterHD, Atmos, etc. Best to let Kodi do the audio decoding by disabling "Allow passthrough". A quick google will explain the limitations. Now back to the original problem, which seems unrelated to the audio issue. I have found in the log where you are trying to play the mkv files. I am not the best when it comes to MySQL as I never use it, but I do note a problem with the playback... PlayItem: File 'smb://KirbyWin/MediaCenter/Movies/The Terminator (1984)/The Terminator (1984).mkv' for library item 'videodb://movies/sets/148/1669?setid=148' doesn't exist. I don't really understand why Kodi is trying to play a Set instead of trying to play a movie. When you are trying to play the movie, where are you? Are you in the library list? Are you in the Set list? Are you pressing play on the Set instead of the movie? Or are you trying to play the file through Videos>Files? It would be helpful if you delete the Terminator movies from the library again. Make sure the Set is also deleted. Then scrape in the mkv versions of those movies, try playing one and provide the Debug Log again. Capturing the scraping will tell me if they are added to the library correctly. RE: Movies not playing properly after changing out a movie series - Slippierknots - 2024-07-29 I am playing from my movies library and all the Terminators were automatically put into a movie set as I have setup when multiple movies in a series are scraped in. So, I go to the Terminator set in this instance and play the selected movie from there. This hasn’t been an ongoing issue. It just happened so I am trying to learn from it instead of just doing without. I will do as you instructed as soon as I have a moment. May have time tonight yet. RE: Movies not playing properly after changing out a movie series - Slippierknots - 2024-07-29 I deleted the Set and the individual movies from the library. I exited Kodi. Started Kodi and updated the library. I played the Terminator movie but I forgot that passthrough was still on so I had to switch it off for audio to play. Ill will continue to research the passthrough and spdif. It plays now though. Is weird that it works now because that is what I did when I swapped those movies out the first time only I didn't have the log running. Here is the log. Kodi.log This is the first time I had updated the library with the logging on and it duplicated everything so I had to clean the library and remove the Terminator movies again so that I could get a fresh log showing the scraping of just the Terminator movies. I do not understand why it scraped my whole library that time. Anyway, when you have time have a look. Thanks. |
