Problem with 4K movies after upgrading to version v21 - Nvidia Shield Pro - Cefyou88 - 2024-08-15 Morning, I have been using Kodi many years for 4K movies on my Nvidia Shield Pro 2019, with external hardrives directly connected to nvidia shield (through USB). After auto upgrading to v21 (OMEGA), I started having slow pictures on movies (that include 2160p and 1080p movies). Please find below the log file : https://paste.kodi.tv/hequbilena.kodi Could you please help me with that ? Sincerely yours. RE: Problem with 4K movies after upgrading to version v21 - Nvidia Shield Pro - Rokle - 2024-08-15 "Memory Size: 1024 MB" Try to set memory size to 64 MB in Service - Caching... and then just test and let us know. RE: Problem with 4K movies after upgrading to version v21 - Nvidia Shield Pro - Cefyou88 - 2024-08-15 Morning, Thank you for your reply ![]() I changed the Memory size from 1Gb to 64Mb, but I still have the same behavior :/ below another file log after changing the value : https://paste.kodi.tv/geyolewefa.kodi Sincerely yours. RE: Problem with 4K movies after upgrading to version v21 - Nvidia Shield Pro - Rokle - 2024-08-15 I have to admit that I experienced similar problem maybe 2 months ago. At that time I re-installed Kodi each month, just to test new things... and issue you described I had too. I did the simply thing - factory reset (Shield TV) and then install Kodi again. In my case I installed test build from jogal regarding MAT packer. At this moment, in your caseĀ - install the latest nightly version of Kodi v21 (Omega) I am sure Kodi will work again. RE: Problem with 4K movies after upgrading to version v21 - Nvidia Shield Pro - Cefyou88 - 2024-08-15 I did a factory reset to my nvidia shield and installed the nightly release "kodi-20240810-57b1b2a0-Omega-arm64-v8a.apk". Unfortunetely I still have small freeze on the pictues on 4k movies :/ below the log file : https://paste.kodi.tv/jimovokiwo.kodi Note : I noticed from the debug output on the screan, that the CPU-KODI is always between 130%-160%. Is that normal ? RE: Problem with 4K movies after upgrading to version v21 - Nvidia Shield Pro - Neo1973 - 2024-08-16 You can try enabling caching for all file systems, even local ones, in Service - Caching. Just a blind guess, maybe it helps. RE: Problem with 4K movies after upgrading to version v21 - Nvidia Shield Pro - Cinephile - 2024-08-16 What's helped me eliminate video stutters was to completely disable the cache, especially if you're on gigabit ethernet. RE: Problem with 4K movies after upgrading to version v21 - Nvidia Shield Pro - Cefyou88 - 2024-08-16 Thank you @Neo1973 and @Cinephile for you replies Unfortunatly I tried to enable caching for all file systems, even local one and disable all the cashing, but unfortunatly I still have the problem Just to remaind, the movies are on a hardrive directly connected to my nvidia shield (through USB). I was using this config for many years...I don't understand what is happening ! Note : I noticed that after I installed the "kodi-20240810-57b1b2a0-Omega-arm64-v8a.apk" the KODI-CPU decreased from 130%-160% to 80%-110% but I still have slow pictures RE: Problem with 4K movies after upgrading to version v21 - Nvidia Shield Pro - Cefyou88 - 2024-08-16 I installed VLC on my shield to test if maybe it's a hardware problem. I tested many movies and I have a smooth reading of all of them... RE: Problem with 4K movies after upgrading to version v21 - Nvidia Shield Pro - Zuikkis - 2024-08-17 There is some issue with caching. Perhaps it's just more memory being used causes the entire Android system lagging. I have previously said that samba shares work better if mounted globally in Shield settings instead of Kodi. I just realised what the difference is. Kodi thinks globally mounted share is local filesystem, so by default it is not cached. If I change cache setting to "cache all", even globally mounted samba shares start skipping. And if I disable caching completely, both Kodi and Shield mounted shares work equally well. I'm not sure what the issue with caching is. I see skipping and AV correction counter increases, even if cache stays over 90% full.. without caching, not a single skip in a 70Mbit/s TrueHD movie. |
