2024 Google TV Streamer 4K - any chance for DTS-HD? - cncb - 2024-08-17

Is there any way we might be able to get DTS-HD passthrough for this new device?  Maybe like is done for the Fire Cube 3rd gen or will the chipset not support it?  Thanks.

Your Debug Log will show it. In 2024 all chipsets to my knowledge support it, but vendors do not properly expose / implement it in android firmware.

If you have that device, post its Debug Log - kodi lists everything being supported.

This won't be available until October but I was thinking about pre-ordering.  Unfortunately, word is it might have an older chipset.

If that's true then it should be similar to the FireTV Stick 4K. Key word is "should", you never know.

The current version of the Fire stick can pass DTS (and all the others). So if Google is using the same Mediatek driver package...

Just received this hardware.  It shows the correct audio signal on my AVR (DTS-HD), but there is no sound.  Does this mean it will not work? I will try to grab the debug log when I get a chance.

Please post a Debug Log - kodi nicely tells what the FW can do on startup.

There are a bunch of "large audio sync errors" (can be seen towards the end of the log) when I try to play which may be why there appears to be no sound while my receiver displays the correct input signal.

Just got mine few days ago, KODI setup is fine, but DTS-HD plays only as DTS, will play more today and report what I see.

Most likely needs the same advancedsettings.xml workaround as FireTV 4K Max2, same chipset, see: https://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=376161
