Custom TV Folder inside the Movies - Darkhorse_x - 2024-09-12

Hi all this is my first post.

I have struggled for a few weeks with this on my own and have finally submitted to my idiocy regarding Kodi and ask here.

I have very simply, all of my TV shows working just fine inside the TV Shows main menu button which I use year-round.    The Movies menu section I would only like to use for certain "seasonal"  uses... (Halloween, Christmas..etc) for easy use for the kids.

Currently I have all of the Halloween movies and specials loaded just fine inside the Movies main menu section.  What I am trying to do is somehow add all of the halloween episodes of a specific show (Simpsons) into its own selection inside the Movies section so they are all in one place.

I have all of the episodes pulled out and placed into their own file but I see no way of doing this with the standard methods.  Is there a possible way that I can do this which I don't understand, either automatically or manually?  I'd appreciate if someone could let me know either way so I can stop fumbling around.  Thanks

This is possible. You just need to figure out a method to distinguish those episodes from all the other episodes.
The easiest method would be to add "Halloween" to the filename. eg The Simpsons S01E01 - Halloween Special.mkv
Then you would create a Smart playlists (wiki) to list all the Halloween episodes using the rule "path" and "contains". No need to move the episodes to any other location.

This you cannot do. Mixing of Movies and TV Shows/Episodes is not possible using the standard methods.
If this is a "must have", there are two manual methods you can use...
1. Copy the episode file across to the movie folder and create a movie nfo file for it. See... https://kodi.wiki/view/Convert_movie_to_episode#Episode_to_Movie
Or
2. You can create a Basic_playlists (wiki) (a manual, one at a time process) and add the Movies and Episodes to it.

All your Seasonal use lists should be created with Smart Playlists, and you can simply add them to the main menu when needed, then remove them when finished.

Ok thank you for your time.  I will have a look at these options tomorrow.

The standard menus are set up for specific uses and can complicate things. I would use a custom menu item if your skin allows. You can name it whatever you want, which is cool for different holidays etc..
