Ubuntu 24.04 Kodi 21.1 Playback Problem - Cataract2 - 2024-09-20
When I'm playing 480P videos from my NAS using Jellycon the video will start and play as expected. But randomly the audio will continue with the picture frozen for about 10 seconds and then the audio stops. the app is frozen for this period but after the audio stops about 2 seconds later the playback starts back up with a minor skip (about 1 second). I've tried a couple of things to troubleshoot this. First while still using Jellycon to stream from my local Jellyfin server and debugging on to capture the logs created and shutting down Kodi as soon as I can after it. I also connected to the server via an NFS share to see if maybe Jellycon was the issue, but it still occurs. Finally I copied the file to the HTPC and that is the only time it does not occur. It would appear that Kodi is having troubles streaming or maybe handling streaming. I say this because on my laptop I connected the NFS share and opened the same video file to stream and I could throw the video to any point in it and it would not skip a beat. Log

Another data point. Tried a blu ray 1080P stream and it played with no problem. I have tried DVD, 480P, streams with and without hardware acceleration and what I described above still occurs. There has to be a reason. The NAS that is feeding my HTPC is overpowered, AMD Epyc, 190GB RAM, 10G LAN so I can't see that being the issue. The HTPC is a Ryzen 5 with 32GB RAM and 1G LAN. Watching the states with the 1080P streaming isn't feeding steady at 32 mbps.

Bit more information. So the DVD, 480P, video encoding is mpeg2video while the blu ray, 1080P, is h264.
