Rpi 4b never had working 1/8 jack or HDMI 1 working. Anyone else? - Cisco2kid - 2024-10-03

I guess this one arrived with the jacks DOA three-four years ago.  I never needed them, but now I might like to use the audio out.
Has anyone ever had similar issue out of the box?

(LibrELEC 10.0.4 Kodi 19.5.....I don't change them because my backup file didn't like trying to load into the latest versions.  Is that also common? ...after it says this backup was created with different version it did not load)

Thanks for responses.

Did you enable the analogue audio?
See here.

Thanks, Popcornmix.
I added that to config using wordpad on pc.
That did add an audio option showing up as a "headphone" out and the jack was live.
However, kodi now does not seem to have the ability to use BOTH that analog audio jack and the audio through the HDMI (I see lots of PCM options but nothing combining analog with them.)
Is there an edit of config to allow/force audio in both formats?
Thanks
(Background:  I have used the one working HDMI out to go to a converter and now send the signal to a Behringer FBQ6200HD equalizer which is tweaked to counter some of my hearing loss [age 73].  Connections all work, effect is great, but I could eliminate some wiring and simplify connectivity with my amp and tv by using the analog out if the quality is good.  Maybe I am too fussy about appearances?)

No, kodi only supports a single audio sink. There is no easy way to do what you want.

The hard way involves using the module-combine-sink of pulseaudio to handle multiple sinks outside of kodi.
But this isn't something I've ever tried, so I'm not sure if it will be successful.

Some sort of physical external splitter to get analogue output in addition to hdmi is the easier solution.

Also note, the analogue output quality is not great. You'll likely get a better result using the hdmi output.

Thanks again popcornmix.  Isn't that odd.  All my Pi 1,2,3 and earlier software offered the dual function and then they dropped it.  I guess because of the quality, but mine was always ok.

I also suppose that is why the Pi5 has no 1/8 jack at all.  I would move up to pi 5 and the latest Kodi and LibreELEC if I thought I could save my playlists and bring them over from a backup made with earlier versions.

We used to have pi specific code in kodi that offloaded most of the playback to the gpu, which did support dual audio mode.
But the pi specific code was removed a number of years ago, as Pi now supports standard APIs (V4L2/DRM) so we work just like other kodi platforms.
