Add an option in Kodi settings to set maximum resolution for artwork - Bindou - 2024-10-23 Hi all, I propose to add an option directly in the Kodi settings to select the maximum resolution of the illustrations (posters, covers, etc.). This would avoid going through the advancedsettings.xml configuration file, which would be more accessible for many users. This feature will make even more sense with the upcoming arrival of automatic scaling in Kodi (as mentioned in this PR: #25630). This scaling will allow illustrations to be displayed at their actual size before processing by the GPU, thus providing better management of image quality and performance, especially for low-power devices. Adding this option would allow the user to optimize the use of resources on devices with limited computing capabilities, while avoiding the overconsumption of bandwidth and storage related to downloading very high-resolution illustrations that are not always necessary depending on the hardware. Or on the contrary, finally enjoy high-definition illustrations ! Thank you very much for considering this request, Bindou RE: Add an option in Kodi settings to set maximum resolution for artwork - Bindou - 2024-10-26 Also, would it be possible to provide an option in Kodi settings to reset the artwork to the desired resolution (delete the old ones and replace them with the new HD artwork)? This option could be accompanied by a clear warning, such as: "Deleting all artwork: irreversible operation", so that the user is well informed. This would give users an additional choice and make the process easier, as many do not know how to manually adjust the definition of the artwork for 4K screens. Currently, many users end up with blurry artwork, poorly adapted to the resolution of their screen. Otherwise, in an ideal scenario, set a new standard resolution of the artwork in Kodi (without user settings). This could also be a solution. For example, by adopting a standard definition of 960x1440px posters, more adapted to common screens in 2024 (4K), rather than the current 480x720px. This would allow for illustrations to be updated naturally as the user replaces them, without any additional configuration. |
