Receiver (sometimes) shows multi in instead of the actual profile - Probydoby - 2024-11-05

My setup is as follows: nvidia shield connected to my denon receiver connected to my tv. All cables are the ultra high speed hdmi 2.1 cables from a reputable Dutch webshop (so no ali express stuff).

Anyway about 40% of the time instead of it showing dts hd or dd+ (this can happen with any audio codec) it will show multi in on the receiver. However, if I restart kodi or restart my whole setup it will most of the time fix itself (so same content).

I'm not sure if there is quality loss but I'd rather bitstream audio to my receiver at all times than unpack it with kodi and stream the raw audio.

I've googled extensively but all the topics I've found involve people struggling with cables or settings, but mine are correct as is evident from the 60% of the time that it works correctly. It is also not content specific as the same video might work correctly on a restart.

Today I again had this issue and I've made a log:

But I struggle to decipher it frankly.

I've already tries multiple kodi releases, from the most recent stable release to a nightly, but it makes no difference.
Any ideas?
