Distortion/Clipping with Wasapi - dicktango - 2024-11-21

I just moved from running Kodi on an XBOX Series X to Windows 10. When I select the HDMI device OR my usb device (Mini DSP) as Wasapi for audio, there is audible distortion during certain points in movies I play. The distortion is not there with directsound, but I'm an audio nerd and I find quality issues with letting Windows handle the sound.

My setup:
Windows 10 (fully updated OS and drivers)
i5 6500k
GTX 1660 Super
JUST installed Kodi fresh yesterday.

I tried using bypass audio, it did not change. I've dropped the output volume ~5db just to see if it was sending the signal too loud, that didn't help. I tried maintaining volume and dynamic range, that didn't help either.

I found this issue on occasion with various challenged audio hardware, with wasapi & passthrough, Kodi just passes the signal off to whatever is connected.

To receive meaningful assistance you will need to provide a full debug log.

The instructions are here... debug log (wiki)

If you are using the Basic Method, then ensure the following is applied...
1.Enable debugging in Settings>System Settings>Logging,
2.Restart Kodi
3.Replicate the problem.
4.Upload the log to Kodi Paste Site manually or use the Kodi Logfile Uploader. (wiki) With either method post the link to the log back here.

If you are using the Advanced Method ensure you have correctly created and applied the advancedsettings.xml file (wiki)

In both instances, you should see the word DEBUG throughout the log.

Note: Full logs only. No partial or redacted logs
Do NOT post your logs directly into the forum. Use the Kodi Paste Site. Post the link to your pasted log in the forum
