D'oh, my Xbox 360 turns on when starting Asrock with MCE USB IR - djon - 2009-10-17 I finally thought I had everything working on my new Asrock ION with Ubuntu and XBMC and LIRC set up as Windows MCE remote (old), so I triumphantly carried it from the office to the living room to set it up. I then started a movie and pressed the green Start button on the MS remote to get the menu, and woe is me, the Xbox 360 started up! I can also see that when I put the Asrock in and out of suspend, the Xbox 360 gleefully turns on and off with it. I am going to replace the MS remote with my Harmony, but obviously I can't use the signals that the MS remote uses. I've read about this: http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=47922 Does this use some other signals that won't interfere with the Xbox 360? Is there another solution? EDIT: Oh dear, it also happens the other way around, so when I start the Xbox 360 with my Harmony, the Asrock also starts. Will it even be possbiel to have these two to co-exist when using the Microsoft MCE IR? - pin87a - 2009-10-17 In the Xbox 360 dashboard there is a setting that will disable MCE remotes. (system settings -> console -> remote -> choose Xbox 360 Media Remote instead of Both Remotes) That should stop the 360 from turning on and off with the MCE remote. - djon - 2009-10-17 Ah yeah, that did it for the Xbox. I tried the link in my first post with these results: I just set all this up and everything works except for being able to turn my Asrock ION back on again. I use Ubuntu minimal and the newest XBMC SVN and I can turn it on and off without any problems when it was set as a Windows MCE remote in LIRC. I had to change the "power off" from com3e to com3f in order for the Activity to turn it off, but neither com3e or com3f will turn it back on again. Is it, unlike the MCE USB, two different keys that does the power on and off when using this setup? Also I can see that when the pc goes to suspend the MCE IR receiver no longer blinks when I press the remote as it usually does, so I assume it is not active. It is some LIRC that has been shut down when it goes to suspend or something? - djon - 2009-10-17 fixed it now. - tehsoul - 2009-10-17 djon Wrote:fixed it now. maybe you can explain how you fixed it? could be handy for people with the same problem finding this thread after a search - djon - 2009-10-20 Yeah, sad story, as it's not 100% fixed anyway. Got it fixed the one way, so that the Xbox 360 won't start up. I also got the PC to start up by learning the "pc" button on the MCE remote. HOWEVER, when I start the Xbox 360 activity, which also turns on the Xbox 360 via IR, the pc also starts up. The Xbox 360 on/off ergo uses the same IR command as the PC's MCE IR uses to wake it up from suspend :-( - djon - 2009-10-24 Logitech support fixed it for me, so it's all good now. - Admiral Michael - 2009-10-24 Do you know what they did? I have a Harmony 880 and I managed to fix the 360 turns on when I wake up the ASRock I don't know how to stop the ASRock turns on with the 360. I'm using Windows 7 instead of Linux. - djon - 2009-10-30 No, but just contact them, and they'll fix it. They know some seious tricks in there and has always helped me with the tricky stuff. - Admiral Michael - 2009-10-30 djon Wrote:No, but just contact them, and they'll fix it.
